A MOVING EXPERIENCE

Monday, November 30th at 2:00Pm, the driver of this United moving truck, Eddie Shorty,  was passing through Beatty ,Via Tonopah, on his way to Denver ( figure that one out), when a wheel bearing overheated and caught the tire on fire causing an explosion heard all over town. The BVFD worked speedily and effectively extinguishing the blaze that occurred right in front of the Burro.

WINTER CONCERT

WELCOME TO BEATTY SIGNS

(Ed) I sent an email to Janet Rogers (town clerk) asking why there aren't welcome signs at either (or any) entrance to Beatty. Here is her answer. More to come. (here is her response)

Hi Charley,

The Town of Beatty is not the permit holder; NDOT permits for 2 entrance signs (unless that has changed and I’m not aware of it) and the Chamber of Commerce holds those permits. In 2004, the BTAB paid for renderings for town entrance signs on behalf of the Beatty Habitat Committee and I honestly don’t know why that particular project wasn’t followed up on. You may be better off posing the question to the Chamber. Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance to you. Thanks, Janet

I bought a new GMC Sierra and returned it to the dealer yesterday because I couldn't get the radio to
work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. I'll show you.  'Nelson,' the salesman said to the radio. The radio replied, 'Ricky or Willie?’ Willie!' he continued and 'On The Road Again' came from the speakers. Then he said, ' Ray Charles!' and in an instant 'Georgia On My Mind' replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd  say, 'Beethoven,' I'd get beautiful classical music.
Yesterday, some guy ran a red light and nearly creamed my new truck, but I swerved in time to avoid him.  I yelled, 'Ass Hole!' Immediately the radio responded with…  "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States  ."Damn I love this truck.

My husband and I stopped in Beatty on our way to Death Valley NP and just wanted to say that we enjoyed our visit very much. We are from busy, crowded northern New Jersey and loved the open, friendly people we met. You have a great town!! Also wanted to say that we ate lunch at KC's Outpost, where we were happily surprised with a delicious meal. The sandwiches were large and on freshly made bread (yum) and the homemade salads were absolutely great!  And the service couldn't have been friendlier. I would recommend this place to anyone!  Thanks for a great visit to a nice town.

BGID There is a meeting scheduled for Thursday the 3rd. One item on the agenda calls for awarding "most" of the BGID'S hardware business to Lou's Second Hand Store. The BGID operates using room tax money (our taxes). I say ours even though the money comes from the motels. It is supposed to go to enrich the town and not one "second hand store". This 'award' is contrary to the purpose of the enrichment of the town. This is an illegal act and must not be allowed to happen. (Ed.) I attended the BGID meeting last Thursday specifically to get the Boards ruling on this item. Bob Marchand stated that he felt that the Board employees were doing a good job in spreading the “wealth’  so to speak, and encouraged the Board to disallow this agenda item. Shirley Harlan  brought up the legalities of giving most’ of the Boards business to Lou’s Hardware. Because of the negative responses to Maxs’ request, she withdrew the item.
