Agencies Lift Fire Restrictions in Southern Nevada

Las Vegas -  Wildland fire officials will lift fire restrictions on public lands in Southern Nevada managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Service, Nevada Division of Forestry, U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service on Thursday, October 1, 2009.   Due to recent changes in the weather, fire danger has moderated from summertime extremes. Calendar fire restrictions are still in effect for the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area until November 15.  Those restrictions are as follows:  no campfires within one mile of homes in Kyle and Lee Canyons, Deer Creek, Cold Creek and the communities of Trout Canyon and Mountain Springs.  These areas are signed advising the public of the restrictions.

EMAIL

Attention 'Charlie',

We have just returned to England after a glorious 3 week trip traveling round California. On our way from Grand Canyon we came across Beatty and picked up a copy of the Beatty News dated 4th Sept. We were really taken with such a charming little town and spent several hours there. We went to the museum but unlucky for us it had just closed. We found everyone so friendly and helpful especially where we stopped for a spot of lunch. The food was delicious, the place spotlessly clean and the owners delightful. Not sure of the name but think it could be called Casey’s or KC diner. I wonder whether you could email us with their address or email address as we have some rather nice photos that we would like them to have copies of. Well all best wishes to you and everyone in Beatty, and many thanks for any help you can give us.

Yours sincerely Nim and Jilly jill.pattenden@ntlworld.com

 Letter to the editor:

It’s a shame the politicians in this county have to try to live up to the old saying “if their mouth is open THEIR LYING”  but that seems to be the case, as with Butch Borasky who one day says he believes in the rights of the people to file for recalls and it is the right given in the constitution, but then when it looks like a recall might happen he files lawsuits and calls everyone who signed the petition Elderly  and  Confused. He also got people to remove their name from the list telling them it would cost over $30,000.00 to the tax payers for the recall, Sandra Merlino, Nye County Clerk, says it would be LESS THAN $10,000.00. He also said it was a waste due to the fact an election was coming in 2010 but failed to mention it would be in November 2010, which is over a year away, and how much damage could be done to the residents of NYE County  in that time, such as adding more pay raises for the tax payers to fund (A Lot more  than even the $30,000.00 he claimed the recall would cost)

MICHAEL JORDON FLAUNTS HIS WEALTH

Am I crazy, or is it too much to ask that the Michael Jordon’s of the world not broadcast their wealth by building elaborate overpriced mansions when most of us can’t make the payments on what we can’t afford.  I guess we should try to feel sorry for someone who is so bored with life that he has to show off his greed. Why doesn’t some crook steal his identity?

KC’S BAND TOO NOISY?

According to Don Wiley, of Boulder Ridge, it is. Don signed a complaint to that effect last Friday because, according to Don, the drums woke him up. KC’S was cited by the Sheriff’s office for this disturbance and was fined $345

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great... I would recommend it very highly.’ The other man said, 'what is the name of the restaurant?’ The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What is the name of that flower you give to some one you love? You know..... The one that's red and has thorns.’ ‘Do you mean a rose?’ Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'
