AP News Break: Ensign: I did nothing 'legally wrong’ this statement came from Nevada State Senator John Ensign. He defended his action by comparing his sexual misconduct to that Bill Clinton saying that Clinton had lied to Congress. Senator Ensigns family paid $96,000 to the woman he had sex with. Does this remind you of the woman who Ted Kennedy left to drown at Chappaquiddick and saved himself and then bought off her family? I am not going to get into this story too much. I will let the facts speak for themselves. There isn’t much we can do to change the morals of rich people who think that money will buy them morality. We can, however, speak at the polls (he will, maybe, be up for reelection in 2012). There is a side note. In the Senators speech, where he tried to weasel out of his acts, he answered questions from the audience on cards, none of which were relevant to his misdeeds. The audience of members of the Chamber of Commerce gave him a standing ovation.

Ensign resigned as head of the Republican Policy Committee after admitting to the affair with Hampton from December 2007 to August 2008. Hampton's husband, Doug, was Ensign's administrative assistant in his Washington, D.C., Senate office and the families were friends. (Ed. Is it necessary to explain to these assholes that screwing your best friends wife, may not be illegal but you still cannot do it! If he would do that who else would he screw; how about you and me.)

ANOTHER VANDALISM REPORT

Dear Kay, After over four years of no signal coming into Beatty from the National Public Radio affiliate in Las Vegas, KNPR, which broadcasts news and information programming, the translator/transmitter that was supposed to be working was put back into service about a month ago, thanks to the efforts of Jerry Hammes making contact with KNPR’s engineers and making a contribution. Then over a week ago, the signal went silent again. An e-mail notification was sent to the station on August 5 to notify them that the signal was off again. On Monday, August 10, the signal was restored. Here is what was reported as the reason it had gone down again:    Some other user of the site disconnected our receive antenna for    reasons unknown. Because this is an unattended automatic site. We    rely on listeners to inform us of such outages. Your help is greatly    appreciated by everyone at KNPR. — Joe Sands, Chief Engineer. The KNPR person who was initially contacted also replied with this report:   The Beatty translator is back on the air. Our engineer reports that    someone disconnected the receive antenna at the transmitter site.    Don’t know why. Maybe someone up there is not a public radio fan.
—Phil Burger, Nevada Public RadioThis was done not by a /non-fan of public radio/, but by some very sick
bastard who gets his kicks in destroying anything good for others. How long will it take before this sicko obstructs the KNPR signal once again? Or how long is it going to take for the base vandals trying to deface and destroy the park, Rhyolite, whatever else in our area, before something is done to apprehend and severely punish them?KNPR is at 91.7 on the FM band.

PROPERTY TAX SAVINGS FRAUD ALERT
Carson City, NV- Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto has issued the following consumer
advisory as part of an ongoing effort to educate consumers. The Nevada Attorney General is warning consumers that letters which look official are being sent out by an organization which calls itself the “Property Tax Review Board.” The Board claims that it can lower property taxes for property owners. The “Property Tax Reduction Form” claims recipients can save hundreds of dollars on their property taxes for a fee of $189.

Carson City Assessor Dave Dawley indicates that the information contained in the letter is based on California law, not Nevada law. In Nevada, property owners do not pay taxes based upon market value. Taxes are calculated on replacement cost new, less depreciation. The Nevada Legislature put a property tax cap into effect in 2005 using the 2004-2005 base year for property taxes. Therefore, the savings the Property Tax Review Board promises are based on faulty data and a Nevada property owner will probably see no savings.

initiated discussions with various groups to arrange
project financing for construction," states James Hesketh, President & CEO.
The Reward operation is expected to produce approximately 126,000 ounces of gold over a five year mine life at an estimated average cash cost of US$435 per ounce of gold produced. This production would provide an undiscounted cash flow of US$34 million at a US$850 gold price. Gold production from Reward combined with production at the existing Briggs Gold Mine should yield the Company an annual gold production rate of 70 - 90 thousand ounces annualized by 2010 year end.

Hi Charlie,

Would you please let people know that the Official Town Website has been approved by the County Commissioners and we are looking at going live around mid to late September. If anyone has a small business, or any kind of business they would like listed in the Business Directory on the site, please let me know. If they have a website, their listing will link directly to the site. And yes Charlie, this includes "The Beatty News". Also any functions or meetings, there will be a monthly Community Calendar, all anyone needs to do is notify me by the last week of the month for the following month (i.e.: function in October, notify by last week in September) as I will be updating on the 1st of every month.  I hope that this site serves the town of Beatty, the general public and visitors well.

I also want to thank all those in Beatty for their support on this project.

ASHAMED

Ted Kennedy is dead. I have hated this man for a long time. I wasn’t passionate about it, but whenever his name came up, I remembered Chappaquiddick. Everything was down hill after that. I never once considered what his accomplishments were. He was the epitome of a rich mans son, born into wealth who never had to work for a living. I longed for his anonymity and now that it has happened, I am ashamed. I hope I will remember this and never let it affect  my decisions again.
