Mike Lasorsa is questioning the business relationship between the contractor who worked on her and Gus’ property. He says that he will refer to the District Attorney for investigation. The question evolves because of the method that Theresa used to hire the same contractor to do the concrete for the benches. In the opinion of this reporter; there may be at least a conflict of interest that should be looked at. One would think that Gus, being a judge, should know better, if this is indeed the case.

Drove through Beatty recently and had dinner at that nice Mexican Restaurant. Was impressed with the small town and your newsletter. Is it possible to get on a mailing list for this?  Also, would your newsletter be interested in having original poems etc. submitted to you?  I attend a writing class at UCLA OLLI and sometimes folks write very good and very amusing things. Just a thought.    Regards Polly

We recently spent some time in Beatty.  We attended both the Beatty Community Church and the Beatty Baptist Church.  Both of these churches have great congregations and both have anointed pastors.  God has his hand on both of these Churches and Beatty, you should be proud.  If you usually don't attend church, visit one of these churches.  Don't leave this earth without making Jesus Christ the Lord of your life.  You never know when you'll take your last breath.

Hi Charlie,

I enjoyed your picture of the Burro in the apartment. They are social animals and they are very curious. They are starting to come out of the mountains looking for water. They can go three days without water and in 15 minutes drink what they need. They should not be fed, meat and things like that, they need hay and alfalfa, but mostly water. There pregnancy is between 11 and 13 months. After they have the baby they go into season the next couple of weeks. Burros are very smart and tame down fast. BLM is going to come and round up the babies from last year. They are going to auction them off. There are three that have not found homes yet. If anyone is interested they can contact the Kingman AZ field Officer, June. The opening bid is 125.00 these are tame burros and are used to thousands of people. Thanks Jolene in Oatman.  Jolene Brown. If you can't contact June, then call me at 928- 768-5669

Beatty News Publisher/Editor attn:  Mr. Cook

Dear Mr. Cook;

I am writing to you to comment about KC's Outpost - a sandwich shop and pub in Beatty that my husband and I recently stopped at while passing through Beatty on vacation.  We are from Wisconsin and really loved the hearty sandwiches with the home made baked bread and fresh ingredients and meat in the sandwiches; the quality of the sandwiches was excellent and the owners were gracious and very accommodating.    We would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Beatty.   We will certainly be back to KC's in any future visit to Beatty.  I hope you can pass this recommendation on in your Beatty newsletter.  Thank you. Tom & Carolyn Griffin, Wisconsin

TOWN MEETING ON WEDNESDAY THE 10TH

 One of the agenda items covered in the meeting was the “Best in The Desert” race, scheduled for August 20. Casey Folkes, race director, made a good argument that was supported by everyone at the meeting, especially when he donated $1,500 to the town. The race will stage, and start, on Fluorspar (Crowell) road near the gravel pit. It will continue, with the exception of the “China Road” to about one or two miles north of Springdale, where it will cross the highway and continue on to Tonopah. In addition to the money, Casey has supplied the funds to pay N.D.O.T to place three 24 inch culverts where the river crosses the road. According to Brad Hunt, this is sufficient to allow the average, or most of the average, runoff to flow without causing any damage to the road. (Ed. I am opposed to doing this work, as the river has been crossing this spot for a long time, including floods, and there have been no reported flooding incidents. Brad, when I told him my position, asked if I “would rather have the road blocked”, as some advocates want. No. That is too extreme. I say, “If it’s working, leave it alone!” I believe that this is an important issue that should have been decided by the whole town, and not just by the race and business advocates who will benefit financially while the rest of us suffer the consequences of what is left behind.)
