IN MY OPINION; I do not want the officer who arrested me to also be my judge and jury. That’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? Yet we are being asked to re-elect Gus Sullivan to do just that. Judge Sullivan was a Captain in the Nye County Sheriff’s office. It was his job to supervise his deputies. To make sure that their arrests were made in such a manner as to insure the conviction of the person charged. In other words; if you are arrested, you are guilty. Do you want this kind of justice in Beatty? I think not. Even if Gus recuses himself to assure that you are not dealing with his prejudice, in your case. Do you not, him being an ex cop, suppose that he passes his opinion on to  the judge that replaces him?

IS IT ME or is there something wrong with the way insurance companies treat their clients? You pay your premium. Then, for some reason, you fall into a high risk category. Instead of the insurance company taking a chance that they are being paid for, they drop you and send you a cancellation. What is wrong with this picture?

PRECIP 500ths of an inch of rain fell between 12pm and 1 pm Monday

When you buy your new vehicle; remember that Ford was the only auto manufacturer that didn’t take the government buy out. Also remember that under the buy out plan, Chrysler will be owned 50 percent by Fiat.

It is five am and I have been awake since two. thought that I might as well write, as I can’t sleep. . THE RIVER IS RISING. I have been taking the boyz for walks in the river since it came up in December. The State has cleared the brush, in the river, below Fluorspar (Crowell) Road and now the river is running above ground for, at least 100 yards downstream. It is clear and in a few places you can even hear it gurgling happily. The river, from the Stagecoach to Second Street, is a disgrace and is badly in need of work to get it to run free and to clean up the muck that has settled from all the brush and trash in the river.

The slander suit, that KK started in June of 07, (and that Ed is paying for) against the “News”,is winding down.. You see; it isn’t enough that your pride is hurt; you have to show something physical before you can collect any reparations. All KK has done, so far, is cause me to spend a lot of money on attorneys’ fees. I never could understand what all the complaining is about. It is impossible for him to be injured financially by comments or opinions. Take Lou’s second hand store. Lou has been displaying an “unwanted” poster of me in his rented window. It makes some slanderous statements about me, along with a very unflattering picture. Did I sue? Nope. Why not? Sticks and Stones.

Also; any publicity, even if it’s bad, is good. I don’t object to those who do not like me and tell lies about me , but I have asked Lou to replace that photo with one that I provided which, I felt, was more flattering, and he hasn’t done it yet. So, the photo remains. For some, hate is all they have.

BTAB MEETING for January 25th LAST.

Douglas Farinholt of the Nye Regional Medical Center. They are the ones that have placed the trailer on Second Street. It will open in February one day a week. Drop in and talk to them.

Teresa Sullivan and Joannie Jarvis (Red Carpet Committee) their job is to pave the way for Nevada Health to make a lot more money.

I JUST DO NOT believe that anyone can be so misguided as to want us to pay our tax money to Nevada Health Center. We are now paying $250,000 a year for what we get. (Which is band aid care) Apparently a nurse practitioner has been hired and will begin work at the clinic soon. Teresa  wants, as an incentive, to pay $400 a month toward housing for her. (The BTAB approved this item) She just does not get it. We do not have any money. We certainly do not have money to pay to an organization which has not earned the money we have been paying them for the last ten years. I wish Teresa would just confine her efforts to the school system. (No offense) Teresa asked for and got this money because “Beatty is a difficult place to live”. That’s true for us, but not for Teresa whose husband Gus has free transportation that will take him anywhere he wants  to run errands for his wife. I hope they aren’t using a county vehicle to buy their groceries. But, my point is, that it is not so “difficult” for Teresa as it is for the rest of us. I don’t think the county is subsidizing anyone else with hardship pay. One can only wonder how Robin and Teresa will feel because they don’t get “hardship pay”.

Am I alone in wondering why Teresa and the Red Carpet Committee didn’t work with Nye Regional Medical on this problem? I am sure that she didn’t even think of that, or if she did, she dismissed the idea. Makes me wonder about her relationship with Nevada Health? When you discount all options, is that even legal? Furthermore, is it legal to pay someone to live in Beatty because it causes a hardship to them?

The Nevada Health Center has a contract that expires in June. I hope these problems are ironed out by then.

FYI Joannie Jarvis is a member of the Board of Directors of Nevada health Centers and has been since June 2010. Does this mean that she will lean in favor of the Health Center and against Nye Regional in all of her decisions? You bet it does.

The next question is; can Nye Regional overcome this blatant misuse of county power.

Teresa was very late coming to the meeting. I wonder if it was because Nevada Health hadn’t informed her of the hiring of the nurse practitioner and there was no need for the $9,000 to look for one. Of course I am sure that Teresa will think of some other use for the money. This does bring a question to mind. Since Joannie Jarvis is the personnel director on the board, why didn’t she know that Nevada Health had hired a nurse practitioner and that the $9,000 was unneeded or did she think that she would us the money for something else?

ED RINGLE supports Gus Sullivan! No surprise there. In the window of Lou’s second hand store, (which should say Ed’s Hardware) is a sign for Gus. That means that the Ringle Political Machine will put its formidable force in support of Gus’ reelection. Too bad Kay. You might as well concede. Wait a mo! That still leaves the rest of the county. We do not, those of us who aren’t afraid of Ed, have to vote for Ed’s candidate and the continuation of his reign. You may still have a chance Kay.
